Gr. 1/2
#1201
Colour Line Design
Supplies:
ruler, eraser, HB pencil, primary colour crayons, and
8 1/2 x 11"
white paper.

Create a design using lines of 3 directions (horizontal, vertical and diagonal). Assign one different primary colour (red, blue and yellow) to each of the 3 directions. After deciding on a representational subject to draw, lightly draw the lines with an HB pencil and a ruler.  Attempt to leave very few empty areas; encourage detail. With the primary colour crayons, trace over the lines with the assigned primary colours. Eg. in the sample drawing,  vertical lines are red, horizontal are blue and diagonal are yellow.

Evaluation:
The drawing should display the student's clear understanding of
1) direction of line, and
2) distinguishing primary colours from other colours
